History of Birth Flowers<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Birth flowers have an interesting history. The earliest reference to the language of flowers is by the poet Christopher Smart, who first mentioned a language of flowers in Jubilate Agno, <\/em>circa 1759-63. However, Mary Wortley, Lady Montagu, through her memoirs, introduced 18th century western culture to the concept of flowers assigned to each birth month.<\/span><\/p>\n
