Violet is February’s birth flower and includes a pretty new printable!
February’s Flower is the Pretty Violet
February’s birth flower is the Violet, and according to the Almanac, violets symbolize faithfulness and loyalty. While the blue violet is most common, there are over 400 species and colors range from red and pink to white!
History of Birth Flowers
Birth flowers have an interesting history. The earliest reference to the language of flowers is by Christopher Smart, c,1759-63. However, birth flowers were introduced to western culture in the 18th century by Mary Wortley, Lady Montagu, through her memoirs. English, American, or Australian monthly flowers can sometimes be different, depending on the list. But I don’t plan to use one specific list for this series, I’m just partial to pretty artwork. 🙂 Be sure to check out the Wikipedia link below for the full lists of flowers. I hope you’ll enjoy this fun series and pretty February Violet birth flower printable!
