Monthly Motivation – Staying Motivated to Meet Your Goals
It’s the new year, traditionally a time we take stock of what we’ve accomplished, and set our sights on new goals. However, staying motivated to reach those goals can be a challenge. So for this month’s motivation, I thought it would be helpful to offer some ideas to help you stay on track. Read on for a few tips to keep you motivated to meet your goals.
Give yourself incentives
Think about this when you’re creating goals. How will you benefit once the goal is completed? Will you get more than just a sense of achievement? For example, goals focused on qualifications are beneficial since you’ll be qualified for a skill when you pass. Work-related goals could lead to more money and/or a promotion. For goals that may require an extra push, promise yourself a reward. The reward doesn’t have to be big, just something you really want and will treat yourself with when you achieve your goal.
Share your goals
Thousands of people make goals every year, so you’re bound to know somebody you could talk to. Discussing your goals with others can inspire you, and you could learn how they stay motivated or manage to achieve their goals.
See the big picture
Rather than viewing your goal as just an isolated achievement, think about other goals and how it may tie into them. For example, you may have a goal to increase your overall health, or you might want to fit back into a certain piece of clothing. Losing weight will help you to meet those goals, as well as increasing your confidence to complete different goals.
Take a break
Life shouldn’t be all meeting goals and hitting targets. Take a break every now and then, and use the time to rest and reflect. Many people use the weekend to take a break from work, or take one day a week to relax from fitness goals.
Stay motivated and reach your goals
Reaching our goals is about so much more than achieving a single thing. It’s about the journey too, and the lessons we learn along the way. Sharing your goals with others, rewarding yourself, seeing the big picture, and taking the time to recharge can help you stay motivated and reach your goals.
