Serenity Prayer Free Printable

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

World’s gone a little crazy

I had planned to create a spring garden post this week, but right now everything is a little crazy. With COVID-19 sweeping the planet and concerns for slowing the spread, we are in the midst of an unprecedented shutdown. Travel is banned, schools and events are cancelled.  Somehow my blogposts feel a little irrelevant. If you need information about what you can do about the coronavirus, please click here. The CDC has excellent information that can help you stay healthy, and/or care for yourself or your loved ones should you contract the virus.

Let’s try to remember that 81% of those that contract COVID-19 will either not experience symptoms or recover fully. Please don’t think I’m minimizing the seriousness of this. I have loved ones that are high risk, and I’m no spring chicken myself. I’m practicing social distancing, washing my hands, and hoarding toilet paper (OK, just trying to lighten things up a bit). I cite the statistic with the hope it can help to offer some perspective.

Thank you to those on the front lines

First, if you are a first responder, a healthcare worker, public employee, or even restaurant or grocery store employee still going to work, THANK YOU. Your willingness to show up and do your job helps us all more than you know. I am so grateful to you. You are an unsung hero.

I want to help

Because of my skillset, I’ve always joked that in the midst of a crisis all I can is create a flyer. And while I can share information in a graphic way, there are times when bathing ourselves in minute by minute information is not helpful and can create anxiety. Right now, I think the most important thing we can do is to stay calm. Giving into anxiety turns on our lizard brain and creates panic. Instead, I think it can help us to reach for a little serenity.

Serenity Prayer

I’ve always loved this prayer. It’s often associated with AA, but was actually written by Reinhold Neibuhr, and dates back to 1932. I can’t do much right now except use my skillset to spread a little serenity. You can display this pretty printable wherever you may need it. Read it twice, then read it again. I hope it helps to bring you some peace.
