Howaya March

Let’s greet March with a big Howaya! This windy, changeable month ushers in a welcome change of season, and I’ll admit, it’s something I look forward to every year. I’m ready to give March a big Howaya!

Saying Howaya

In my search for an alternative to the stereotypical ‘Top of the Mornin’ St. Patrick’s Day greeting for March, I came across a few websites that shared different Irish greetings. While the Gaelic greeting is Dia duit (pronounced dee-ya gwit), I wanted something in English. ‘Howaya’ is a quick hello and common greeting you’ll hear while on the Emerald Isle.

March is more than St. Patrick’s Day

While St. Patrick’s Day is a big holiday for March, there are lots of other reasons to celebrate in this early spring month. First, and most important to me anyway, is the Spring Solstice on March 20 (let’s have a cheer for spring!) There’s also International Women’s Day on March 8th, Pi Day on March 14, and (drumroll please) National Corndog Day, celebrated the third Saturday of March. Whatever you celebrate during this early spring month, say it with a big Howaya March!
