Let’s greet the month known for love in the language of love, and say Bonjour February! Personally, I’m all about making a celebration of this month. In my region, February is cold, wet, and mostly dark. The days are longer than the beginning of the year, but it’s not until the last week of the month that it really starts to feel like we’ll see the sun again. So, I’m for anything that helps us find a spark of joy!

Saying Bonjour

Bonjour is, of course, French for hello. The literal translation is ‘Good Day’, and is used all day, then in the evening it’s customary to say ‘Bon Soir’, which means good evening. I like the idea of wishing someone a good day, because really, I do want you to have a good day!

February is more than Valentine’s Day

While the big occasion for February is focused around Valentine’s Day, there are lots of holidays in February. Black History month is celebrated in February. Groundhog Day is February 2nd, and this year Mardi Gras and Ash Wednesday are both celebrated in February. And let’s not forget President’s Day, celebrated the 3rd Monday in February. There’s also another February holiday I just learned about, and that is National Pancake Day, celebrated on February 28th. What a treat! Whatever you decide to celebrate, let’s greet the month with a happy Bonjour February!
