November Comes and Goes – Download a free poetry printable

November comes and November goes,
With the last red berries and the first white snows.
– Elizabeth Coatsworth

November Comes

This printable wasn’t planned, and isn’t part of a particular series. I originally shared the quote in a previous November post, and recently realized I’d mistakenly attributed it to another author. As I was updating, I thought about how much I really like the poem, and some pretty artwork came to mind, so I thought I’d just offer it up.

November gets overlooked

I’ve always thought that, as a month, November was a bit overlooked. It’s not the end of fall or beginning of winter, or THE Holiday month of December. The weather turns cold, the brilliant colors fade, and we mostly spend the month anticipating (or dreading, for those of us that are perpetually chilled) the season ahead.

November deserves its moment

But, November deserves its own moment. It gives us a chance to pause, as well as prepare for the months ahead, whether to reap a harvest or prep for the holidays. And since here in the US it’s the month of Thanksgiving, it’s the perfect opportunity to cultivate an attitude of gratitude.

Elizabeth Coatsworth

I enjoy Elizabeth Coatsworth’s work. Her poetry is lyrical and whimsical, fun for both kids and adults. And anyone who writes about black cats, of course, has my heart. You can read some of her work here. I hope you enjoy this pretty November Goes printable.
