Let’s Go Gallivanting!

Yep, the definition of gallivanting fits my kind of trip. When I say I love to travel, I’m not really talking about business travel, although, if I have the opportunity to visit a new locale and wrap some work up into it, I’m game. But mostly I love to travel for rest, relaxation, and exploration. I even love ferreting out new things to do at places I’ve already been. Seems just as soon as I’ve put away my luggage, I’m dreaming of a new destination.

I also love hearing about trips others have taken. If I’ve been where you went, I want to compare notes. But if I haven’t been to where you last vacationed, I want you to tell me about your trip. I’m the friend who wants to see your travel pictures and hear your vacation tales. Slide show? Let’s see it! Planning to Gallivant

Along with traveling, I love vacation planning. I love dreaming about new places to see. I like to explore how I’ll get there, where I’ll stay and where to visit, and as I said already, if I’ve visited before I want to see something different from the last time I was there.

I won’t claim I’m a seasoned world traveler, but I’ve seen a bit of Europe, some of Northern America, and I’m lucky enough to have five US National Parks within a day’s drive of my home base. I’ve done a good bit of scenic travel and I’ve done a few different types of excursions; the couple’s getaway as well as the family road trip. I’ve flown in, camped, stayed in budget motels and in high-end accommodations (full transparency – I haven’t had the opportunity to stay at a 5-star resort – yet).

I’m always interested in trying out a new destination and a new way to experience it. Should the next trip include a bed and breakfast, AirBnB or VRBO, or maybe a cruise or river cruise, inclusive resort, a motorhome rental, our trusty truck camper, a local hotel or chain motel?  When planning a trip, all choices must be weighed and considered, but the only thing that’s not an option is to stay put. When the wanderlust strikes, I just want to GO!

Sharing my Gallivanting Adventures

So far on my blog I’ve focused on design and some on health, but haven’t yet added much travel into the mix. However, traveling is something I look forward to and future trips are always in the wings. Travel is uplifting and can be transformative, and at the very least, it’s a great break from the everyday of your life. I’ve heard people express regrets about a certain locale, but I’ve never heard anyone regret taking the time to travel. The Expert Vagabond, Matt Karsten, says it best: “an investment in travel is an investment in yourself.”

This fun printable is inspired by my love of travel. Gallivanting is my favorite thing to do and favorite way to go. Freeways are such hustle and bustle, so when I can, I like to travel the highways and byways, and stop at the historic markers.
