Spring has arrived

It’s Spring! The season of bloom is here, and one of the things I look forward to the most is when the flowering cherry trees bloom. This time of year is full of ephemeral beauty, and the blooming cherry blossoms are truly a here-and-now experience.

Beautiful Springtime Blooms

There are different types of cherry blossoms, of course, but for this printable I’ve chosen the beautiful pink blossoming cherry. I’m fortunate that many in my area have planted the same Blossoming Cherry tree, and when they bloom en masse, the effect is stunning. But, as quickly as they bloom, they’re done. They’re a reminder that life’s beauty is in the moment. It’s so important to savor it all when it’s happening.

I love Cherry Blossoms

There are hundreds of varieties of Blossoming Cherry trees, and the most well-known species are the Japanese Cherry Blossom or ‘Sakura’. The flowering cherry is such an important part of Japanese culture that their bloom is tracked each year by the Japanese Meteorological Society. In 1912, Japan gifted the United States with 3,020 Flowering Cherry trees as a symbol of friendship. The trees were planted in Sakura Park in Manhattan, N.Y., and in Potomac Park, Washington D.C., where they’re celebrated each year with a National Cherry Blossom Festival.

If you’d like to enjoy the beauty of Cherry Blossoms, check out this Field Guide by the National Park Service. There’s a variety for most every region, and trees can live from 30 to 40 years.
