Happy St. Patrick’s Day – with a fun, free printable!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
With its green shamrocks promising Spring, and the Easter holiday just around the calendar corner, this mid-March holiday is a tantalizing promise of the season to come.
Fun Holiday Facts
According to History.com, 39% of the U.S. population celebrates St. Patrick’s Day. Here are a few more fun facts about this holiday:
34.7 million U.S. residents claim Irish ancestry, more than the entire population of Ireland!
In honor of the St. Patrick’s Day holiday, 40 lbs. of green dye is used to dye the Chicago river each year, and over 100,000 people gather to watch the river turn green.
$4.14 billion is spent each year on the St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
83% of people wear green to celebrate the holiday. (In my region, you wear the green or suffer the pinch!)
The New York City St. Patrick’s Day parade is the largest in the U.S., with over 150,000 participants and over 3 million observers.
Display your Irish pride!
As the saying goes, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day! My fun printable is the English spelling of (or corruption of, according to Wikipedia) the Gaelic Éirrin go Brách (pronounced brawh), which roughly means ‘Ireland Forever’. While searching for artwork, I came across this Celtic shamrock from Vecteezy and thought it was so pretty, and wanted to play on the mood for my printable. You can download and display, or gift to a friend. Either way, it’s a great way to show your Irish pride!
