Summer is here

Summer has arrived and along with the gorgeous greenery, all kinds of fresh fruits and veggies are on the menu. Where to get all that garden-fresh goodness? Just visit the Farmers Market! Buying fresh goods from local farmers means you’re eating food grown near where you live, and research shows you’ll benefit more from food grown locally. And buying from your local farmer means less packaging and less distance your food has to travel to get to you.

Buying locally also means your money stays local. Those big box stores ship their food from central distributing hubs, and much of the money you spend with them ends up in a central account as well. However, buying from local growers means your money stays in the community, giving your neighbor the opportunity to make a living and provide for their family.

Let’s go to the Farmers Market

Let’s visit the Farmer’s Market and try the local goods. There are homemade jams and jellies, fresh veggies and fruit, handcrafted goods and local food. And I’m sure a flower vendor or two will be there! You never know what you’ll find at the farmer’s market and that’s part of the fun, so let’s go!
