Daffodil is March’s birth flower! Includes new printable

The Flower for March is the Cheerful Daffodil

Hello windy month of March! This month’s birth flower is the cheerful Daffodil. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, the latin name for Daffodils is Narcissus. The daffodil symbolizes unequaled love, and their arrival is a sure sign spring is on the way!

March’s Birthstone and color

I used March’s pretty aquamarine birthstone as inspiration for the color wash on this month’s printable.

History of Birth Flowers

Birth flowers have an interesting history. The earliest reference to the language of flowers is by the poet Christopher Smart, c,1759-63. However, the concept of flowers for each birth month was first introduced to western culture by Mary Wortley, Lady Montagu, through her memoirs. Coupled with the birth month, Victorians used flowers as ‘talking bouquets’ to express unspoken feelings. If you’re interested in the history and full lists of flowers, be sure to check out the links below. Good morning to you. I like the daffodil pritable, but I prefer printables that use the whole page. If it’s an 8.5×11, let’s fill the whole sheet with print. No need for all the white space. Thanks for sharing your talents with us.
