What matters most
Some days it feels as if we’re just playing whack-a-mole, chasing down whatever problem pokes it’s head up at the moment. But to really manifest abundance and joy in our lives, we need to focus our energies on those things that matter most. So, for this month’s featured post I want to look at ways we can channel our time and energies to reveal the abundance we most desire.
Knowing your values
How do you get started? The easiest way is by clarifying what’s important to you. Knowing what matters most to you, and why, gives you a renewed purpose and an inner compass that can help you decide how to spend your time and energy. Get to your why and you can unlock the determination to achieve whatever goal you have in mind.
Our sources of energy
Our main sources of energy are from our mind, body, spirit, and emotions. We can enhance our energy by embracing behaviors that support us and eliminate or minimize behaviors that leave us feeling drained.
When you sit down to determine your priorities, don’t just list vague topics like money, personal growth, or health. List what you want more of within each of the categories listed below, and be specific (this month’s planner page can help!) As an example, under the physical category on my sheet I’m listing more Tai Chi. I’m specifically listing this form of exercise because it helps me feel more balanced and enhances my other energies as well.
Focusing on and addressing each of the four sources of energy may take some thought and adjustments, but this can be an exciting opportunity to step outside your comfort zone.
Physical energy
Taking the time to care for your physical needs pays big dividends. It’s no surprise that some of the biggest aspects of caring for your physical energy include getting good sleep, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and knowing when to take a break.
Mental energy
Distractions are everywhere. They’re wasting your energy and your time. They drain your life force and prevent you from acting on what matters. Take a moment to reflect on how much energy you’re giving away, then refocus. Whether it’s participating in an uplifting conversation, reading or listening to inspiring content, or acting with mindfulness, it’s all about being committed to your authentic self.
Emotional energy
The most damaging thing to your emotional energy is negativity, whether it’s your own or from those around you. One sure fire way to fuel your emotional energy is by practicing gratitude. Start every day by thinking of the many things you’re grateful for, and finish your day in the same way. And when you start to experience negative emotions, you can interrupt the negativity by thinking of something hopeful or humorous.
Spiritual energy
Don’t you feel energized when you can see the value in your actions? Whether it’s making more time for your loved ones or giving back in some way, you’ll feel inspired and empowered when you act in line with your personal values.
Channel your energy
When we clearly define and understand our values, we make choices that align with our priorities. By embracing actions that empower us and eliminating or minimizing behaviors that drain us, we nurture our energy, enrich our lives, and open ourselves to abundance.
