It’s Juuuunnnnnee!! Happy days are here again, the sky above is clear again, let’s sing a song of cheer again. Happy Days! Are! Here! Again! Can you tell I love June? In our neck of the woods, it’s a beautiful time of year. The days are getting longer, flowers are popping and the sky is blue. It’s usually not too hot, but the days are oh-so warm and wonderful.

Life is Good in June

Life is good in June. It’s the month of beautiful garden weddings, long, long days and soft summer evenings. The Irises are showing off, the Peonies are bursting, and everywhere you look Roses are stealing the show.

Even the weeds are pretty this time of year! Although Dyer’s Wode is a pernicious weed in the Rocky Mountains, for a few weeks in late spring it actually looks pretty while it’s lacy, golden flowers are in bloom. (Best to pull it while it’s golden and pretty. One year’s seed is seven years weed, after all.)

If you’re a gardener, June is the perfect time to plant, move, replant and generally fuss about in the garden. It’s not too late to plant some veggies, and it’s a great time to fertilize and weed. There’s so much to do and gardening in June is the perfect time to dig in and get those chores done. I hope you get the chance to garden this month, if that’s something you like to do. But if gardening isn’t your thing, I hope you can at least get out and enjoy this wonderful time of year.

June is Special

Besides the month, the word June has another meaning for our family. It was my mama’s middle name, which I used for my firstborn daughter’s middle name. She also gave the same middle name to her daughter. To me, the name means warmth and love and family. All good things to associate with a beautiful month of the year!
