April’s birth flower is the pretty Daisy
The birth flower of April is the pretty Daisy. This beautiful flower suggests purity and loyal love and, according to Almanac.com, a daisy given between friends means ‘I’ll never tell!’
April’s Birthstone and color
For the color wash on this month’s printable, I used April’s beautiful Sapphire birthstone as inspiration.
History of Birth Flowers
Birth flowers have an interesting history. The earliest reference to the language of flowers is by Christopher Smart, c,1759-63. However, Lady Montagu, Mary Wortley, introduced Western culture to birth flowers through her memoirs, published upon her death. Victorians used flowers as talking bouquets to express feelings they didn’t want to voice aloud.
