Lavender

Lavender is not only beautiful and aromatic, but pollinators love it. Bees are attracted to the flower’s abundant nectar, making it a popular choice for bee-friendly gardens. Planting lavender in your garden not only benefits bees but also adds beauty and fragrance to your outdoor space.

Bee Balm

As the name suggests, bee balm (Monarda spp.) is a favorite among bees. Its vibrant flowers are rich in nectar, attracting bees and other pollinators throughout the growing season. Bee balm comes in a wide range of colors, so there’s sure to be a variety to fit in your garden. Additionally, bee balm is easy to grow and thrives in sunny locations with well-drained soil.

Sunflowers

Sunflowers are not only cheerful additions to the garden but also valuable sources of pollen and nectar for bees. Their large, showy flowers provide ample food for bees, attracting them in droves during the summer months. Sunflowers are easy to grow from seed and are an excellent choice for novice gardeners looking to support bee populations.

Echinacea

Echinacea, also known as coneflower, is a popular perennial prized for its medicinal properties and attractive flowers. Bees are drawn to its daisy-like blooms, which provide a rich source of nectar and pollen. Planting echinacea in your garden not only adds color and texture but also supports pollinators and other beneficial insects.

Wildflowers

Native wildflowers are among the best plants for supporting bee populations. Many native wildflowers have co-evolved with local bee species, providing the food and habitat they need to thrive. Consider adding a few native wildflowers into your garden. Black-eyed susans, aster, goldenrod, and milkweed are easy to grow and can help you create a bee-friendly habitat.
